Time For An Update...

As you can see from my lack of posts, I've been away from the online thing for a while, so I figured it was time for a wee update.

Basically the reason why I've been quiet is that I'm in the middle of recording a new EP and it's taking up pretty much all of my free time.

And to be honest, I haven't really felt the need to update each time I've been in the studio to record a guitar part or whatever.

But as I've completed the recording of all the instruments, I figured it was as good a time as any for an update.

It's been a busy period, as I've said. Not only in the recording department but also with the fact that I've moved my home studio to, what I believe is a more productive space.

It's called the 'The Riverbank Room', as it's (you guessed it) on the river and it affords me great views especially during the slow months of autumn and winter.

And it's been great. I'm not very good over the winter and my mood does dip quite a bit, so having a place that I can sort of retreat to and feel inspired is fabulous.

Now I'm in full recording mode...

As I've said, the instruments have all been finalised and recorded and that has been a process...

The Guitars having a well deserved rest in 'The Riverbank Room'.

Now, it's not false modesty to say that my guitar skill isn't great. I'm competent, but the recording process does flag up any weaknesses and I've been taking as much care as I can to make it sound as good I can with the equipment I have.

Having said that, there does come a time in the process when you have to accept your physical limitations and commit to the recording performance you have. It's taken quite a long time compared to the full time professionals, but I'm now happy with how it's sounding.

Time for my close-up...

I'm also stepping out of my comfort zone again and have quite a lot of piano being used on this project.

Piano Vibes in 'The Riverbank Room'.

If my guitar playing is ropey, my piano playing is on a completely different level, 🀣.

But again, I've got it to a place where I'm happy with it and you will hear it when the EP gets released.

Now comes the hardest bit in the whole process...

Singing!!

'Artsy' Microphone Shot in 'The Riverbank Room'.

There may be a bit of delay on the next update as my singing is something of a battle for meπŸ˜‚. But hey, I'm not giving up yet 😜.

So that's it for the moment. I hope to do a quick update on the idea behind this current song project, so keep a look out for that.

Thanks For Stopping By...
