My New Single - Horseman Of The King

My new single 'Horseman Of the King', has just been released today. It's available in the main online streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music etc.

I've put a link and a preview here to Spotify as that's probably what most people use nowadays.

It's exciting to release a new track to the world and I hope you enjoy it as well.

This one is different from the others as well so I'm pleased that I've already got a bit of choice there for people to enjoy.

Anyway, it's out there and as I've said already, I hope you enjoy it.

Here We Go Again...

Things have moved on a pace since my last post. And I'm pleased to say that my latest single will be released on Monday 31st October. So I'm at the nervous stage once again as I wait to find out what people think of my new 'old' song.

It's entitled 'Horseman of The King' and was inspired by the title of the John Wesley biography written by Cyril Davey.

Now for the life of me, I don't know why I wrote a song based on that, but obviously I found the title inspiring. John Wesley's story is inspirational too and I hope the song reflects a bit of that. Certainly now that I've re-looked at the lyrics, since they were first written, I believe it's much better.

And as I said previously, I've done something new with the arrangement that is well out of my comfort zone, so that's exciting too.

But all I can do now is wait and get stuck into my next recording.

Which brings me to something I found to be quite funny

I mentioned a couple of posts back that I had pretty much stopped doing anything in the studio for the summer.

Well, whilst that was something I needed to do, it has left with me a slight problem. You see, when I was 'laying down' a few initial scratch guitar tracks for the new song, I discovered a problem...

My fingers have no calluses on them because I haven't picked up a guitar in months!! 🤦🏻 And soft finger tips make for many grimaces of pain and even worse playing.

So I have to wait a bit longer until they're back in shape again before I start to do the serious tracking.

And that's about as 'Rock n Roll' I'm ever gonna get I think!! 😂

That's it for now

Time For An Update...

In my last post, I showed you the new pages for 'production notes' and what went on 'behind the song', which allows me to keep everything all neat and tidy and together.

I also mentioned that I would tell you about what has been going on over the last few months.

Basically, I took the summer off!

Now, if I'm honest, I hadn't planned to do that - but that's just the way it happened. And it was obviously something I needed to do as I've been back in the studio this last few weeks or so, all fired up, ready to continue where I left off.

Before I did take the break I had already begun to record a new song which was definitely a bit of a project. And it's a special one too, as it's the first song that I wrote and recorded on a cassette recorder way back in 1991.

Now, I do have other earlier songs, but I can't for the life of me remember any of the music or melody, so that kind of made the decision to leave them in the book. So this is the one that I officially class as my first one.

Now, full disclosure, I have rewritten parts of it and added a new bridge section, but the melody is still the same as the original and therefore it counts 😀.

The production for this one has also taken me well out of my comfort zone. And it has taken quite a bit of effort to get right - plus the inevitable doubts and insecurities that go with it 😆!!

All that needs done now is the final mixing and mastering. This takes quite a bit of time (more than it should be) as I'm still trying to learn how to do it.

But the end is in sight...

I look forward to telling you all about it very soon.
