Point Of No Return

I'm committed to it now, the point of no return has been reached and passed...
Well, I think that's enough of the fake drama, eh? But let me explain.

In my last post, I told you all about wanting to remix the 'Faith In God Above' single and how I was re-recording the guitar parts (I even showed pictures). And I gave you my reasoning behind it. So that has been the focus here in Dad's Corner Studio.

So I'm pleased to say that everything is now finished and all I'm doing now is waiting for it to be processed by Spotify, Apple Music etc.

The longest part in the process has been the editing and mixing of it all and I've been saving and listening to many different versions over the last week to try and get it right. But it's done and dusted and hopefully you'll think I managed it when it goes live near the end of May.

Sometimes the waiting is the hardest part...

Getting the Guitars Recorded

On my last Post, I spoke of finding the balance and after a bit of a break over the Easter Holidays, the time has come to continue with the remix of 'Faith In God Above'.

Apart from the overall mix, the biggest thing I've wanted to change was the guitars and I now have been able to set the time aside to get them done. I've even got the pictures to prove it 😂😂...

As you can see, the concentration level is full on and I think I've managed to achieve my goals.

It's actually amazing the difference between the recording I made over a year ago, but I'll reserve comment on whether or not I've improved since then 😉.

So that's another box ticked in the process. Now comes the tricky bit - mixing!

But we're moving forward and that's good. More soon...

Finding The Balance

It's been quiet on the blog front, but I have been working away behind the scenes - honest!! It's amazing just how quickly the weeks just fly by - maybe it's my age 😁!!

But it's all about balance.

As a part-time musician and full-time house husband and Dad, I don't have the luxury to be doing 'the music' all the time and so I work at it when I'm able - and I've learnt to be content with that.

What it means is, as I begin this 'musical journey', I don't have to worry about any deadlines other than the ones that I set myself. I can also take the time to be happy with what I'm recording and releasing and hopefully as I move forward, I will progress and get better at it.

So, with that in mind, I'm currently working on what I believe to be a better version of the 'Faith In God Above' single.

Now I confess, I really deliberated over whether or not to go back and change it. After all, it's good to have a reference point and work on from that. But after recording another song (to be released soon) I knew that I would rather do this now and for it to be the best that I can do right now.

The recorded version of 'Faith In God Above' has been in the works for over a year and as time has gone by I have changed my equipment and approach to recording and mixing. And the version I have released to the world isn't the version that I am the most happy with, so I'm changing it. The newer version is taking time, but it's not wasted time.

Of course, time will tell if I made the right decision but I believe that I would regret not doing so now, as my intention is to leave it and concentrate on new material.

And once this revision is done - it's done. It wouldn't be progressive to keep going back to find the perfect version that I'm probably not capable of producing! Though most musicians and artists will tell you that the temptation to go back and improve older works is hard to resist!

Will you notice a difference? Maybe, I don't know. The song itself hasn't changed but the overall sound of it is better and definitely one that I can live with more comfortably. I know that as a musician my skills are pretty much the same so that part of it will be consistent 😂!!

So I'm excited by what I've heard so far and I hope you will be too. Hopefully the wait won't be too much longer...
